Will The Developer Deliver?
When you’re trying to decide in which community to build your new custom home, it’s critical you check on the developer of that community. The following is a list of some of the things you should check for.
- Are the roads bonded to insure completion in case the developer is unable to
perform? - Has the developer performed an environmental study to determine; the
existence of endangered species or karst terrain? - Has the developer performed a hydrology report to determine availability of
water? - Has the developer performed an IRIS report to determine the existence and/or
location(s) of any toxic waste dumps or land-fills? - How long has the developer been in business?
- Can the developer provide a HUD Report which gives vital information about
the developer, the community, and estimated completion dates for roads, utilities,
and amenities? - The success of a community depends largely on the developer’s financial
viability and their thorough due-diligence. Don’t get burned!
